President’s Message

Dear Friends,

First, I would like to thank you all for trusting me for this position.

I am happy to lead Nepalese Association of Houston (NAH) (2018 – 2020) and I am proud of our Executive Team for their continued support and ‘Can do” attitude towards community activities. I would also like to take this opportunity to ‘thank’ all the people of Nepalese origin as well as those who care about Nepal, love Nepal and want to do something about Nepal. I would also like to thank all the sponsors who have supported us financially in the past and hope to receive similar, if not bigger, support from all our well-wishers.

Time keeps moving even if we do not do anything. As Gandhi said “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”, we, as a human being, should be trying to do something good and for others. NAH has been moving in this direction. I am committed to make this journey a priority of my life.

In the next two years, I hope to see three changes in the way we do business, which can be summarized as three ‘Cs”. First C is about communication. We need to better communicate to our community, whether it be about some events or programs or opportunities, or news of community interest.

Second C is about connection. Creating connection opportunities for the NAH members and people of Nepalese origin living in the Greater Houston area through various medium will be important and NAH has been already working on this area by collaborating with local and national organizations. We will strengthen these relationships and grow more relationships.

Third C is about Culture. Cultures are rules and laws which are passed from one generation to the next generation in a given context. We must strive to save our culture and pass it to our kids. Celebration of Nepali festivals and organizing events of interest to Nepalese people are few examples of keeping up with our culture.

With these three C agendas, I hope, we, as a community, will be better off socially as well as culturally, which is the mission of NAH. Finally, I would like to thank all the NAH Executives and volunteers for their efforts and dedications towards NAH.

Best regards,
